About Serengeti
The Serengeti is Tanzania's most celebrated wilderness: a vast ecosystem of open plains, granite kopjes, river woodland and acacia savannah rolling towards the Kenyan border. Its name is thought to come from the Maasai word "siringet", meaning "endless plain", and a first look across the horizon shows why.
Each year well over a million wildebeest, together with zebra and gazelle, follow the rains in a continuous circular migration. Lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas live here year-round, which makes the Serengeti one of the finest places in Africa to watch predators at work.
With a private 4×4 and an expert guide we position you where the action is most likely to be: the southern plains for calving season, the central Seronera valley for big cats, or the northern Mara River country for dramatic crossings. And we always leave time to simply sit, watch and listen.
